On November 25-26, we held our fifth Kyiv Tech Hub’ 21 conference! It was a fantastic day at UNIT.City, when the best and brightest Ukrainian startups, pitched against each other, before getting grilled by our judges. Among them were representatives of Simpact VC, VC Link, SMOK Ventures, ABAN Fund, Warsaw Stock Exchange and AgriTech Hub.
The conference was opened by:
- Waldemar Buda – Secretary of State in the Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy,
- Marek Kuberski – Deputy Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Department of the Development Cooperation,
- Viktor Podoroznyi – General Director of the Directorate of Regional Policy Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine,
- Oleksiy Shkuratov – Deputy Minister for European Integration at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Startup competition
The final pitch competition at the Kyiv Tech Hub conference concluded a few weeks-long virtual acceleration of 30 selected startups, where those received mentoring and support in the field of the business model, presentation skills, and fundraising. After that, participants had the opportunity to present their ideas at regional meetups to the wider community.
Here are the startups that presented their solutions on the first day of the conference:
- Activechat – contact center toolbox for automatization of enterprise customer service daily routine,
- Agrotop – a comprehensive expert-analytical system of accounting, visualization, analysis and effective management agribusiness,
- AID – software that allows to use sophisticated artificial intelligence algorithms without prior knowledge of how they work,
- Atmosphere – an intelligent weather data processor for outdoor and indoor appliances,
- AutoBi – a SaaS automotive management platform for SMART solutions in a real-time mode,
- Bumpy – a first-secure mobile dating app to help customers to avoid fraud & harassment with AI systems,
- Camtouch – technology that turns any screen into an interactive touchscreen to increase the efficiency of the performance,
- Dandex – an innovative hardware+software solution that allows a rapid increase in the volume of qualitatively sorted waste,
- Elai.io – AI and SaaS-based platform for the creation of videos from text,
- Finmap – cash flow management tool for small and mid-sized businesses,
- Fruittorg – a project that builds a rational chain of sales of agri-food products,
- GreenBin – a packaging tracking system that helps to achieve desired recycling rates,
- JobTailor – AI SaaS for job-related activities management,
- Knopka – patient care automation system for hospital beds,
- MBA Kids Online – an online edutainment platform for kids and teens to train soft skills and entrepreneurship experience,
- Measurme – developing the tools to automate the collection, structuring and analysis of psychometrics to solve the problem of manual collection of scales for psychotherapists,
- Muscreators – an online service for artists, which helps with advancement around the world and provides ready-made solutions for effective promotion,
- Noty.ai – a browser extension that automates note-taking on video calls,
- Pleso – a mental health startup that connects the customer with the most suited therapist by using advanced algorithms and superior customer service,
- WOD Insight – AI-powered software solution that monitors and guides fitness workouts by providing personalized insights for faster injury-free progress,
Each startup had time for introducing their solution, followed after by a series of questions. In the end, the jury decided that the Elai.io project deserved to be the main winner of the competition. It is a platform based on artificial intelligence (AI) and technology in the SaaS model (Software as a Service), used to create personalized videos using only text. The startup was awarded with the prize of 30 thousand PLN.
The second place was awarded to the startup Knopka, which developed a system for emergency notification of nurses in hospitals. With the solution, they are immediately informed of an immediate threat, and if no one responds within three minutes, the alarm becomes stronger and ultimately goes to the head of the department.
Finally, third place took the startup Atmosphere, a weather data processing system used for both outdoor and indoor devices.
Panel discussions
Besides the startup competition, two panel discussions on growing business abroad and entrepreneurial organizations that support Ukraine’s most innovative startups and founders took place. Big thanks to Wojciech Majewski (Simpact VC), Yaroslav Khariy (Best Financial Solutions), Andriy Zaikin (YEP), Igor Hludov (Lawyerd!), Svitlana Malovana (Raccoon.Recovery) and to the best of the best panel leader – Błażej Soniewicki, Managing Partner of an E-Contenta startup for sharing their experiences with others.
Matchmaking
In addition to the startups competition, during the second day of the conference the participants of the Polish-Ukrainian Startup Bridge project had the opportunity to get in touch with Venture Capital funds from Poland. Among them were representatives of Simpact VC, SpeedUp Venture Capital Group, VC Link, Shape VC, SMOK Ventures, ABAN Fund, YouNick Mint, Inovo Venture Partners, AgriTech Hub, and StarFinder Capital Fund. This year, more than 60 individual online and offline matchmaking meetings were held.
